I've decided I want to learn how to sew. Yes, I am currently terrible at it. Yes, I have like no time for this. And yes, I am crazy. But it is something I really want to learn (and be good at it), so here goes nothing.
First of all, I need a sewing machine, which my mom and I are going to Wal-Mart on Thursday and getting at 12:01 AM - this will probably be my only shopping on Black Friday (except a stop at Whole Foods in Tulsa on the way home, but I digress) - thank goodness! So, we went to do some pre-shopping for Thanksgiving and found cute and simple aprons - all on one sheet of fabric, just cut, sew, and instant apron...
Super blurry iphone pic of what I started with... $8 apron project? Yes please!
What the finished product looks like on a flat fabric model...
The only pic I took during "production" - I actually became bored/frustrated/completely over my lack of talent and my forgotten knowledge of how to work my mom's sewing machine
Skip forward to a handful of pattern adjustments (I wasn't smart enough to make the straps or add the pocket), a trip to Wal-Mart in a freakish thunderstorm, and 3 visits from my mom to fix the sewing machine....and TA DA! Matching aprons for Thanksgiving!
So, I learned that I suck at sewing. But - I also remember that I can do it if I try and it could be fun! Now, I hear my middle school flute is back in the house....
Those are cute, but before you head to Wal Mart at 12:01, I think Black Friday starts at 4am or maybe 5am.
